TSN Unveils Annual Top 50 NHL Players Rankings!

As the NHL season heats up, TSN Hockey has released its eagerly awaited list of the Top 50 players for the upcoming year! Today, we kick off with players ranked from 50 to 41.

Ovechkin Defies the Odds!

Last season, Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals silenced his critics. After wrapping up the previous year with just 31 goals—the lowest in his career for a full season—there were doubts about his ability to continue impressively enough to chase down Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal record.

However, Ovechkin roared back with an exceptional performance, netting 44 goals and 73 points, even while missing two weeks due to a leg injury. He surged past Gretzky to become the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer!

Leading His Team to Glory!

His stellar play revitalized the Capitals, pushing them to the top of the Eastern Conference with a robust 51-22-9 record—a significant improvement from the prior season. Ovechkin also contributed five goals in the playoffs before the team was halted by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Entering Year 21 at Age 40!

As he steps into his 21st NHL season, Ovechkin, now 40, is keeping his future options open. This year presents a unique chance for him to join the elite 900-goal club, with aspirations to surpass 1,000 goals depending on how long he decides to keep playing.

Ranked at No. 49 this season, the future Hall of Famer is not just pursuing individual accolades, but also seeking another shot at the Stanley Cup!
