OTTAWA – The NHL is probing the Ottawa Senators for some cheeky behavior during warmups before Game 3 of their heated playoff battle with the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to a league insider.

Darren Dreger from TSN broke the news this Friday morning, revealing that Senators forward Nick Cousins was reportedly seen firing pucks into the Leafs' zone, seemingly with goalie Anthony Stolarz as his target.

But Cousins wasn't alone in the mischief; other Senators players allegedly joined in, tossing pucks toward the center line. While these antics might not be classified as a severe violation, the NHL has zero tolerance for warmup mischief, especially during the playoffs, where tensions could easily peak into physical confrontations.

It’s been a dramatic series for Stolarz, who had already taken umbrage with Senators forward Ridly Greig after an aggressive slide into his crease during Game 1. Stolarz retaliated in Game 2 with several chops directed at Greig, showcasing his fiery temperament.

In a post-game interview following a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 3, Stolarz refrained from commenting on the warmup incident but did note that the Senators seemed intent on ruffling his feathers.

"I just kind of stay out of it," Stolarz remarked, adding he spoke to the referees about keeping an eye on him and ensuring fair play.

As the Senators find themselves in a 3-0 series deficit, all eyes will be on Game 4 at the Canadian Tire Centre this Saturday. Will they turn the tide, or will the Leafs continue to dominate?
