This initiative marks the third phase of the program’s rollout, signaling a significant move towards tackling the ongoing housing crisis.
Most of these exciting developments are concentrated in St. John’s, the capital city, where housing demand has been high. Specifically, the projects include 10 new rental units in Conception Bay South (C.B.S.), another 10 in St. Anthony, and four units in Gander. Additionally, Channel-Port aux Basques will see the construction of 16 new rental units, and Reidville will add four new ones to its landscape.
The targeted completion dates for these ambitious projects stretch from next year all the way to 2027-28, indicating the government’s long-term commitment to bolstering the housing market. This effort comes at a crucial time, as many areas are grappling with a shortage of affordable housing options for residents.
