A man has been charged with a serious crime after human remains were uncovered in a home in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. This shocking revelation has raised alarms as authorities suspect a connection to the disappearance of 43-year-old Jessica Cunningham.

The Arrest

Mylie Barron was taken into custody on August 26 and is now facing charges related to disrespect for human remains. The investigation escalated dramatically when police, alongside the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) and forensic experts, descended on a residence on Gillis Place.

The Missing Woman

Jessica Cunningham had not been seen since June and was reported missing last month. The authorities believe that the remains discovered at Barron’s residence may belong to her.

While investigators confirmed the presence of human remains, the BC Coroners Service is still working to identify the individual. S/Sgt. David Lee from IHIT stated that one of their main priorities is to determine how long the remains had been at the property.

Lee revealed that Barron and Cunningham were in an intimate relationship and lived together at the location where the remains were found. However, he cautioned that it’s premature to label this as a case of intimate partner violence.

Court Proceedings

Barron appeared in court on August 27 and has been remanded in custody, awaiting a bail hearing set for September 26. He currently faces a single charge under the Criminal Code of Canada.
