The mining sector in the province is skyrocketing, prompting a crucial demand for skilled labor, according to Mining NL.
Executive Director Amanda McCallum has emphasized that the minerals resource sector is experiencing "unprecedented" growth, now contributing a staggering 9.3% to the province’s GDP. The Baie Verte Peninsula is at the heart of this surge, and it's facing a significant workforce shortage.
"Firefly Metals, Maritime Resources, and Shoreline Aggregates are three key players in this vibrant cluster, and they're projecting a need for over 1,000 workers in the next two to three years," McCallum revealed.
To support this explosive growth, the region will also require enhanced infrastructure, including more housing and essential services like childcare to accommodate the influx of new workers.
As the mining boom continues, addressing these needs will be vital to sustaining this economic uplift and ensuring a thriving future for the community.
