Meta is making headlines as it speeds up the development of its groundbreaking AI glasses, which come equipped with a cutting-edge head-up display. The tech giant is aiming for an ambitious release this October!
Insider reports from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reveal that while there’s a slight chance of delay, top executives are urging teams to ramp up efforts. Employees have even been asked to work weekends to ensure everything is ready on time.
Unlike the existing Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, which only offer a stylish lens, this new model—code-named Hypernova—will feature a small monocular display capable of running simple apps and displaying photos.
What’s more, if these smart glasses hit the shelves, they will mark Meta's first entry into the realm of AI-equipped eyewear with a display, priced between $1,000 and $1,400. Alongside the launch, Meta is also expected to unveil a revolutionary sEMG wristband that enables control through neural signals—an exciting leap into a new product category.
In the competitive landscape of smart glasses, Apple is also working on its own model, known as the N50. These glasses, enriched with Apple’s advanced technology, are still in the development phase and aren't expected to be ready anytime soon. Gurman notes that the next iteration of the Apple Vision Pro—set to be lighter and more affordable—may launch between late 2023 and early 2026, although it’s unclear if it will replace the existing model or serve as a budget-friendly alternative.
