Meghan Markle has returned to sunny California following a whirlwind visit to the Invictus Games in British Columbia, and she made sure to bring home some delightful Canadian treats for her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In a charming Instagram story, Markle shared a snapshot of a delightful spread that included a box of the beloved Tim Hortons Timbits, fudge shaped like mountain peaks, and delicious chocolate and cashew bear claws. Accompanying the photo, she wrote, “A taste of Canada and The Invictus Games for our little ones! Cheering you on from home!” It’s clear the Duchess of Sussex is keen to share a piece of her travels with her kids.
Also featured in the scrumptious assortment was an Invictus Games logo macaron, a whimsical crocheted Yeti, and a pair of personalized green jerseys emblazoned with the children’s names, gifted to her and Prince Harry by Team Nigeria during a USA vs. Nigeria wheelchair basketball match. Derrick Cobbinah, the Nigerian team manager, described Markle’s excitement when receiving the gift, stating, “She was very, very excited. They said they would be thrilled to have them.”
While Markle enjoys her time back in Montecito with her children, Prince Harry remains in Canada, passionately supporting the Invictus athletes and their families. The Invictus Games, an initiative founded by Harry in 2014, represents a heartfelt endeavor to honor injured service members and veterans through adaptive sports.
Earlier this week, Meghan utilized her Instagram platform to rally enthusiasm for the ongoing games, declaring, “Let the games begin! Get ready for a week of heart, hope, and heroes in action.” The event runs until February 16, featuring competitors from 23 countries. This year marks Canada’s second time hosting the games, having previously done so in Toronto in 2017. However, this iteration is particularly special as it includes winter adaptive sports such as alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, skeleton, and wheelchair curling for the first time ever.
Prince Harry emphasized the significance of these games during a speech in Vancouver last November, noting how life-changing they can be for the participants: “For the challenges they have overcome, to be amongst team members again… wearing their flag on their chest or on their arm, coming out into a stadium full of tens of thousands of people cheering for them, that can be a life-altering moment.”
As the excitement continues to build around the Invictus Games, it’s heartwarming to see how this global event not only brings recognition to the athletes but also unites families and communities in support of their incredible journeys. Meghan Markle’s thoughtful touch of Canadian treats adds a personal flair that undoubtedly brightens her children’s days!
