Attention, Conestoga College community! The Region of Waterloo Public Health has issued a critical warning following confirmed measles exposure at the Doon Campus.

What You Need to Know

Last week, health officials identified a measles case that could affect countless students and staff. The concerning timeframe is from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on May 21, specifically in classroom 2E06 on the second floor of the E-Wing in the Doon Main Building.

Those who were present in classroom 2E06 or in nearby areas, including Starbucks and other classrooms on the second floor during this period, are urged to take action.

Immediate Precautions Recommended!

Given the highly contagious nature of measles, public health officials recommend that anyone potentially exposed closely monitor for symptoms of the disease until June 11. Symptoms may include fever, cough, runny nose, and a distinctive rash.

What’s Happening in the Region?

This alert comes amid a larger outbreak in the Waterloo Region, where 14 additional measles cases were reported recently, raising the total to a staggering 78 confirmed cases. These numbers don’t include potential cases that could still emerge.
