Alberta Health Services (AHS) has issued a critical alert after a confirmed case of measles was reported in the Edmonton Zone. This individual was on a public flight while infectious, posing a risk to fellow passengers.

Passengers aboard Air Canada Flight #173, which departed from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) at 3:44 p.m. (MDT) and landed at Edmonton International Airport (YEG) at 7:30 p.m. (MDT) on September 10, may have been exposed to the virus.

Additionally, anyone who was in the domestic terminal, specifically at Gate D62 and the baggage claim area in Edmonton from 7:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. (MDT) on the same day is urged to be vigilant.

What to Watch For!

AHS warns that individuals born in 1970 or later who have not received two documented doses of the measles vaccine should closely monitor for symptoms. Measles is highly contagious and can spread rapidly through the air.
