In a harrowing afternoon incident on Thursday, a fierce two-alarm fire erupted in North York, swiftly spreading from a garage into two neighboring homes, but miraculously, no injuries were reported.

Emergency responders received the alarming call just after 1 p.m., sending crews racing to the scene at 10 Gleneagle Crescent, located near Highway 404 and Sheppard Avenue. Upon arrival, they were met with a dire situation: a car consumed by flames and heavy smoke engulfing the residence.

According to Acting Division Commander Robert Hewson, the fire originated in the carport area, positioned between the two homes. "The flames were so intense that they quickly spread to the adjacent house," he revealed. Firefighters acted with exceptional speed, managing to contain the blaze before it could cause even more destruction.

In a fortunate turn of events, residents from both homes were able to self-evacuate without sustaining injuries. However, the incident took a somber note as a pet was tragically found deceased in one of the homes.
