Major Snowfall Forecasted: Montreal Braces for Winter Weather Advisory
Montreal is bracing for a significant snowfall as Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a weather advisory for the Greater Montreal area. The region is expected to receive between 10 to 15 centimeters of snow, starting late Monday and continuing into Tuesday morning.
The snow will blanket not just Montreal, but also surrounding regions including Montérégie, Lanaudière, Laurentians, Outaouais, Mauricie, Centre-du-Québec, and the Eastern Townships. Residents are urged to prepare for difficult driving conditions as roadways may become slippery and visibility could be reduced.
"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions," ECCC advises. Safety should remain a priority; individuals walking or driving in affected areas should take extra caution. The forecast predicts a high temperature of minus eight degrees Celsius on Monday, but with wind chill factored in, it will feel like a frigid minus 19 degrees.
Fortunately, the snowfall is expected to taper off by early Tuesday morning, leading to a mix of sun and clouds for the remainder of the day. While temperatures will stabilize around minus nine degrees, the wind chill will continue to hover around minus 17, making it essential for residents to dress warmly and limit outdoor exposure.
This weather event serves as a reminder of the unpredictable and harsh winter conditions that characterize this time of year in Quebec. As locals prepare for the snow, it's important to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this wintry spell.
Stay tuned for updates on road conditions and weather advisories as the snowfall unfolds!
