"It's been a rough year on the greens; I've been really angry," McCormick shared. "After trying numerous strategies, I simply thought it might be time to take extreme measures—I put tape over my mouth. I felt like Bane from Batman, trying to muzzle myself. It’s not that I’m proud of this method, but I didn’t want to create a negative experience for my partners or for myself."

Mixed Results

Despite his efforts to “quiet” his frustrations, McCormick was candid about the experiment's mixed results. "I was hoping it would help, but I can’t really say if it did or didn’t. It certainly forced me to breathe," he added with a touch of humor.

During his rounds, he adapted his communication style drastically. "I mostly kept track of my scores on paper, and I would just point and ask my playing partner for advice," he chuckled. "It simplified things a lot, that’s for sure!"

Currently, McCormick finds himself in a tough spot after losing his PGA Tour card in the previous season, ending at No. 161 on the 2024 FedExCup Fall standings. As of now, he's hovering at No. 126 on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List, which is likely to drop further following this missed cut at The Landings.
