After a staggering 13 years since the release of Street Fighter X Tekken, fans are still on the edge of their seats for a glimpse of Tekken X Street Fighter. Despite the recent Evo 2025 event passing without any shocking unveilings, hope is still flickering thanks to the legendary Katsuhiro Harada of Bandai Namco.

During an interview with Destructoid at Evo 2025, Harada and his colleague Michael Murray discussed the much-anticipated title. Although the main focus was on Tekken Tag Tournament 3, Harada had some tantalizing words regarding Tekken X Street Fighter.

"It’s hard to say if that’s even a thing. I mean, it depends on what people are wanting as well," Harada shared, adding, "That said, I would like to show people what we already have. We were 30 percent into development, so fingers crossed."

In a twist of fate, the last official word on Tekken X Street Fighter was that it had effectively been discontinued, despite Harada's assertion that it was still very much alive in spirit. Back in 2021, he expressed cautious optimism, clarifying that the project was never officially canceled, even though he previously mentioned it had "died" at one point.

"For now, we are just waiting for the right opportunity," Harada emphasized, leaving fans with a glimmer of hope.

Interestingly, a translation error caused some confusion regarding the project’s status. It appears that Harada is still clinging to the possibility of reviving Tekken X Street Fighter, despite the lack of updates for years. He reaffirmed, "Up to 30% of development was in progress, but now it is still pending. This is the current status of the project."

While the dream collaboration between Bandai Namco and Capcom hasn't yet materialized into Tekken X Street Fighter, fans did enjoy Akuma making a guest appearance in Tekken 7.

Back in the day, a few early screenshots of Ryu emerged, showcasing his character using assets from Tekken, hinting at what could have been. From Harada’s comments, it seems that he genuinely wants to share more with fans but requires the green light from various stakeholders.

So, while Tekken X Street Fighter remains in limbo, it's clear that the possibilities are still alive. The clock is ticking, and fingers crossed that we'll see some action on this long-awaited project when the stars finally align!
