In a biting monologue on Wednesday night’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live," comedian and host Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back when expressing his indignation over Donald Trump’s recent cabinet selections, humorously referring to the situation as a “clown car filling up fast.”

Targeting Matt Gaetz

Kimmel specifically took aim at Matt Gaetz, the controversial U.S. representative from Florida who was nominated by Trump for the role of attorney general. Until his abrupt resignation to chase this new position, Gaetz found himself embroiled in numerous investigations, including a House Ethics Committee probe concerning serious allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use. Notably, Gaetz is also under federal investigation for purportedly sex trafficking a 17-year-old girl — accusations he has consistently denied.

“Under normal circumstances, being investigated for trafficking underage girls might tarnish your resume,” Kimmel quipped. “Yet in the Trump administration, it’s like claiming a special skill!”

Critique of Other Controversial Nominees

The talk show host didn’t stop there, commenting on other controversial nominees in Trump’s cabinet, including Fox News host Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense and former U.S. representative Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence. Kimmel dismissed them collectively as “the legion of dumb.”

Turning his attention to Hegseth, Kimmel jested about the perceived lack of qualifications, noting, “There’s nothing more intimidating than a morning talk show host. It’s almost like thinking Regis Philbin was an asset to JFK during the Cuban Missile Crisis!” To punctuate his point, Kimmel showcased a clip of Hegseth at an axe-throwing event, humorously recounting how the host missed the target and nearly harmed a nearby musician. “And that’s our future defense chief!” Kimmel exclaimed in disbelief.

Remarks on Gabbard’s Appointment

With regards to Gabbard’s appointment, Kimmel lightheartedly suggested that it might conflict with her supposed ties to Russian national interests, saying it could hamper her "other job."
