In a stunning turn of events, former New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) sensation Jeff Cobb has officially made his grand entrance into WWE! Fans were left buzzing after his debut at the Backlash Premium Live Event on May 10. However, the circumstances surrounding his sudden departure from NJPW continue to raise eyebrows.

Renowned wrestling insider Dave Meltzer weighed in on the developments during a recent episode of "Wrestling Observer Radio." Meltzer expressed confusion over Cobb's hasty exit, questioning why there was no chance for him to drop the tag team titles or to compete in an anticipated match against Hirooki Goto before switching promotions.

"I don't know why Cobb had to leave so early," Meltzer noted. "He had ample time to handle his commitments in Japan without compromising his WWE debut." Speculation suggests that WWE may have wanted to protect Cobb's reputation, avoiding him taking losses in Japan as they prepared for a storyline in WWE.

Cobb had recently captured the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships alongside Callum Newman from the formidable duo of Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi at Sakura Genesis on April 6. He was even set to challenge Hirooki Goto for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship shortly thereafter. Yet, in mid-April, NJPW announced his exit, reportedly catching them off guard.

His last NJPW match occurred on April 19 against Takahashi at Korakuen Hall, fueling rumors that Cobb was aiming to be present during WrestleMania 41 weekend. Yet, it wasn't until Backlash that fans finally saw Cobb, where he seemingly aligned himself with The Bloodline, helping Jacob Fatu defend his WWE United States Championship.

The future looks bright for Cobb in WWE, leaving fans eager for what’s next as he navigates this exhilarating new chapter in his wrestling career!
