In a shocking turn of events, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler has struck a plea deal with prosecutors to resolve his DUI case, resulting in mandated jail time.
Court records reveal that Cutler, known for his time with the Chicago Bears, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge in a Tennessee courtroom on Tuesday. As part of the agreement, the prosecution dropped a weapon possession charge after Cutler forfeited the firearm in question.
The 42-year-old was sentenced to serve four days behind bars, which he is expected to begin at the end of next month. In addition to jail time, the court imposed a $350 fine and mandated that he complete one year of supervised probation.
As if that weren’t enough, Cutler faces a one-year revocation of his Tennessee driver's license and is required to attend DUI safety classes.
The charges stemmed from an incident on October 17, 2024, when police allege Cutler rear-ended another vehicle in Franklin, Tennessee. Officers who arrived at the scene reported that he appeared intoxicated, exhibiting signs such as slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.
Despite the severity of the situation, Cutler has chosen to remain silent on the matter, with his attorney not responding to requests for comment. However, his ex-wife, Kristin Cavallari, did share her sentiments on her podcast, "Let's Be Honest," wishing him "nothing but the best." The former couple, who tied the knot in 2013 and separated in 2020, share three children.
This incident continues to unfold, and many are watching closely to see how Cutler navigates the aftermath of this troubled chapter.
