The eagerly awaited iPhone 17 series officially hit Taiwanese shelves on September 20, and Chunghwa Telecom revealed that a whopping 43% of its customers immediately snatched up the flagship iPhone 17 Pro.

In comparison, 28% opted for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, while 23% chose the entry-level iPhone 17. The brand's slimmest offering, the iPhone Air, attracted a modest 6% of the market.

Color Preferences Steal the Show

With a starting price of NT$39,900 (about US$1,320), the iPhone 17 Pro, alongside its counterparts in Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue, is showcasing the allure of fresh colors. Notably, Chunghwa Telecom noted that customers are particularly enamored with the Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue options.

On the other hand, the iPhone Air, starting at NT$36,900, available in several shades including Space Black and Sky Blue, saw a majority of buyers gravitating towards the captivating Sky Blue.

The Buzz Around Ultra-Thin Design

As anticipation grew in the days leading up to the launch, preorders kicked off on September 10, following Apple's global announcement. Far EasTone Telecommunications also shared that the iPhone 17 series is thriving in the local market, driving robust demands for upgrades. Customers are particularly impressed by the ultra-thin iPhone Air, which weighs in at only 165 grams, making it 34% lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Unprecedented Sales Surge

In a stunning display of enthusiasm, Tsann Kuen reported that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max were sold out within just 30 minutes across its 104 Apple locations following the launch. Online retailers like PChome noted a remarkable 15% boost in buyers on launch day compared to last year, while momo shared that the Silver 256GB iPhone Pro Max vanished from stock almost instantly.
