As of now, Southeastern Ontario is experiencing a significant decrease in the risk of viral transmission in both community and healthcare environments. In light of this positive trend, we are revising our masking policies to better reflect the current situation.
Key Changes to Masking Guidelines:
1. No Mandatory Masking: Masks will no longer be required in various healthcare settings, including inpatient areas, outpatient clinics, the Emergency Department (ED), Urgent Care Centre (UCC), and Children’s Outpatient Centre (COPC).
2. Personal Choice: We fully support individuals who choose to continue wearing masks. Masks will still be available for those who wish to take extra precautions.
3. Guidelines for Patients and Visitors: Patients exhibiting respiratory symptoms are required to wear a mask upon entering any KHSC facility to ensure the safety and protection of others. Visitors who are symptomatic are encouraged to delay their visit until they are feeling better.
We want to emphasize that the safety of our patients, staff, and the broader community remains our utmost priority. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we navigate these changes together.
Current Outbreak Status:
There are currently no outbreaks reported at KHSC. This information will be updated regularly as necessary.
Stay informed, stay safe, and remember that your well-being and the well-being of those around you are our shared responsibility.
