In a remarkable act of bravery and teamwork, a robbery suspect was apprehended by vigilant shoppers and store staff in Kitchener, with regional police arriving to take him into custody.

The incident occurred on Sunday night around 8:50 p.m. at a business on Highland Road West. The alleged perpetrator, a 42-year-old man from Peel Region, was caught trying to stealthily leave the store with concealed items.

When confronted by the staff members, the suspect attempted to flee while threatening them with violence. Unfazed, a quick-thinking customer joined forces with the employees, successfully detaining the suspect until law enforcement arrived.

Now facing serious charges including Robbery and multiple counts of Breach of Court Order, the suspect's reckless actions highlight the risks of retail theft but also shine a light on community vigilance.
