In a devastating turn of events, the family of Cole Williams is left to grieve the loss of their beloved son and friend, described as 'larger than life.' This tragedy struck Saanich early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 5 a.m. on September 9, Saanich Police responded to a welfare check in the 4000 block of Hayden Court, where they discovered the lifeless body of an adult male.
Following the shocking discovery, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) took over the investigation, delving into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The Williams family shared an emotional statement with CHEK News, highlighting Cole's selfless nature: 'He helped anyone who needed him without even being asked. We are so proud of how accomplished he was at such a young age.' They painted a picture of a man who not only had a legendary career as a plumber but also knew the real meaning of hard work.
In their heart-wrenching statement, they expressed their deep love for him: 'He is dearly loved by his family, girlfriend, and friends. He was in his own house, where he should have felt the safest. We are in shock that we have lost such a bright light. Life will never be the same without him.'
The family expressed their anguish, calling the act that took Cole's life 'senseless' and admitted, 'We are shattered to pieces.'
As the investigation unfolds, police confirmed that an adult male was taken into custody on Tuesday evening. By Wednesday, Saanich officials had charged Koby Bujdoso with second-degree murder in connection with Cole’s death.
While the charges are pending proof in court, detectives revealed that the victim and the suspect were acquainted, noting that there is no ongoing risk to the community.
