A Bold Move Towards Fire Safety!
On September 16, 2025, the City of Grande Prairie made a significant announcement: they've secured a remarkable $130,000 from Intact’s 2025 Municipal Climate Resiliency Grant. This funding is geared towards enhancing vegetation management and fortifying the community against wildfires.
Protecting Lives and Nature!
The allocated funds will support continued FireSmart activities, specifically within the vulnerable Bear Creek Corridor. A planned clearance of up to 16.64 hectares aims to eliminate dangerous dead and downed woody debris, drastically reducing wildfire risks.
A Community Commitment!
Mayor Jackie Clayton expressed pride in the initiative, highlighting how this crucial work not only protects residents but also fosters biodiversity and showcases environmental leadership. "By tackling these hazards in our natural spaces, we create a safer, more resilient community," she noted.
