In a thrilling announcement during last week's Android Show: I/O Edition, Google is officially rolling out its much-anticipated "Find Hub" update, a rebranding of its previous "Find My Device" feature.

The new version 3.1.337-2 showcases the fresh "Find Hub" name for the Android app, streamlining the user experience by adopting a shorter, more memorable title. This change also allows Google to maintain consistency across all platforms, as the app now serves dual purposes: locating devices and connecting with family and friends through the "Find Hub Network."

What's New in the Update?

In addition to the rebranding, Google has removed the "Beta" label from the "People" tab after several months of thorough testing. Users will now enjoy a seamless experience, as tapping on the "Settings" option takes them directly to a comprehensive list featuring both "Find Hub" and "Google Location Sharing." Previously, accessing the latter was less straightforward.

This exciting update is now being rolled out widely through the Google Play Store, paving the way for a more intuitive user experience.

What's Next for Find Hub?

Looking to the future, the Find Hub is set to leverage ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, initially on the Moto Tag and compatible devices, for highly accurate tracking that includes both direction and distance. However, this feature isn't live just yet.

Additionally, Google has plans for a game-changing update later this year that will enable supported devices to use satellite connectivity for location sharing and finding, particularly useful when cellular networks are unavailable.

Stay tuned—there's a lot more coming from Google’s Find Hub that promises to make locating loved ones and devices easier than ever!
