Year-Long Manhunt Continues for Gold Heist Suspects

It's been a year since the shocking gold heist at Toronto Pearson International Airport, yet three suspects remain at large despite a series of arrests. Peel Regional Police revealed that Arsalan Chaudhary, Simran Preet Panesar, and Prasath Paramalingam are still evading capture in a case that captured global attention.

The Audacious Heist: How 6,600 Gold Bars Went Missing

In a brazen theft in April 2023, thieves made off with a staggering 6,600 gold bars valued at over $20 million, plus an additional $2.5 million in cash. This heist involved intricately planned logistics, beginning with the shipment of the gold from a refinery in Zurich, Switzerland, arriving in Toronto on an Air Canada flight.

Upon landing on April 17, the cargo was transported to an Air Canada facility, where the nefarious plot unfolded. A suspect entered the facility with a forged airway bill and orchestrated the loading of the gold and cash into a waiting truck.

A Trail Gone Cold: The Investigation Unfolds

Around 9:30 p.m. that fateful night, employees from Brink's Canada arrived to collect the valuable shipment, only to discover it was missing. Police initiated an investigation, leading to the issuance of 37 search warrants and 70 production orders. In the process, they seized a whopping $430,000 in cash and several crudely-made gold bracelets valued at over $89,000.

Identifying the Players: Who's Who in the Heist?

Nine individuals were implicated in this audacious crime, including Parmpal Sidhu, a 54-year-old Air Canada employee, and Ali Raza, a 37-year-old jewelry store owner from Toronto. Amid the chaos, Paramalingam faced severe charges, including firearms trafficking and conspiracy, earning him a bench warrant after skipping court.

Fugitive Alert: Authorities Are on the Hunt!

Panesar, 31, a former Air Canada employee at the time of the theft, and Chaudhary, 42, are also in the spotlight. Both men are facing serious charges and are encouraged to turn themselves in, as Peel Regional Police collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to bring them to justice.

A Call for Information!

The police urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of these fugitives to come forward. The clock is ticking, and justice for the audacious Pearson gold heist remains tantalizingly close.
