Gas Prices Plummet This Weekend: What You Need to Know!

In a welcomed trend for drivers, gas prices across Waterloo Region are continuing to decline as we head into the weekend. This drop is drawing attention amid widespread discussions about cost-of-living adjustments.

According to industry analyst Roger McKnight of Enpro, gas prices saw a decrease of seven cents at the stroke of midnight, landing at approximately 132.9 cents a litre at most stations. But the good news doesn't stop there — McKnight anticipates another drop this Sunday, with prices potentially hitting as low as 129.9 cents per litre.

Locals are already experiencing some of the lowest prices in Kitchener, where stations reported rates as low as 128.9 cents a litre on Saturday morning. Wilmot Township is seeing similar trends with prices around 129.9 cents, and in Waterloo, some stations are offering prices between 123.9 to 125.9 cents per litre.

This marks the third consecutive week of falling gas prices, a trend initiated on April 1, when the consumer carbon tax was removed, leading to a striking reduction of up to 20 cents. With such changes in fuel prices, drivers in the region can expect relief at the pumps, maybe allowing for increased spending in other areas of their budgets.

Stay tuned for ongoing updates as we monitor gasoline prices and their impact on local economies and consumer behaviors in the upcoming weeks!
