A New Era for the Gananoque Arts Network

The Gananoque Arts Network (GAN) embarks on an exciting journey as it aims to establish a permanent home for its thriving artistic community. With growing demand for its programs, GAN is set to purchase a building that will cater to a wide variety of art forms and community activities.

Why Owning a Space Matters

With soaring rents and operational costs, GAN's board believes that owning a space will ensure the organization’s stability and long-term success. Executive Director Jeannie Catchpole shared, "We envision a multipurpose venue that can host everything from music performances and art exhibitions to community programs for seniors and youth. Finding the right building that offers flexibility is crucial for our future."

Facing the Real Estate Challenge

Despite the ambitious plans, the current real estate market poses significant hurdles. Prices for properties have surged, making it challenging for a community-focused arts initiative to secure funding. Tiny homes are even being sold for prices that rival full-sized homes. How will GAN make its dream a reality?

The 50/50 Draw: A Fundraising Strategy

To overcome financial hurdles, GAN is launching a series of 50/50 draws with a target of raising $1 million over the next year and a half. Catchpole stated, "By tapping into Ontario’s vast community of arts supporters, we aim to excite ticket buyers with the prospect of winning big while supporting a worthy cause."

Details of the Draws

The first draw kicked off on Canada Day, with the first ticket sales closing on September 21. An enticing early bird prize of $750 will be drawn on August 4. The main event takes place in Gananoque on September 22. Three 50/50 draws are planned throughout the year, with rules available at www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/ganarts.

Community Commitment and Collaboration

Upon acquiring the right property, GAN is committed to using local contractors and volunteers to carry out renovations and maintenance. This initiative not only strengthens community ties but also promotes local talent. "Our mission to enrich lives through creative expression hinges on building a space for everyone to thrive," Catchpole remarked.

Join the Movement!

To keep the community informed, GAN invites everyone to visit their website at www.ganarts.ca where they can find updates on programs, events, and the ongoing fundraising initiative. "We’re quickly outgrowing our current facility, and we need more space for our vibrant array of programs—from music to pottery classes. Join us in nurturing this creative haven and see the positive impact we can make together," Catchpole encouraged.

Get Involved!

Tickets for the draw are on sale to Ontario residents aged 18 and over, providing a chance to win while contributing to the arts. For more information, visit www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/ganarts and be part of GAN’s mission to transform the community through the power of art.
