In a dramatic turn of events, a notorious Toronto man, Kamar Cunningham, has been apprehended in the U.S. after evading authorities for nearly four years. The police confirmed his arrest this week in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Cunningham, 43, who is also known by the aliases 'Kid' and 'Damion Thompson,' was convicted in one of Toronto's largest firearms trafficking busts, dubbed 'Project Patton.' This extensive investigation, which saw a staggering deployment of over 800 officers, targeted the notorious Five Point Generalz street gang and resulted in 75 arrests and the seizure of 78 firearms.

The street value of the seized weapons ranged from a chilling $200,000 to $390,000. In May 2021, Cunningham was sentenced to nine years behind bars, but he did not show up for the court hearing to hear his fate.

As one of Canada’s most wanted fugitives, Cunningham was listed as the 17th on the BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Program’s wanted list, with the authorities even offering a reward of up to $50,000 for tips leading to his capture.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts, Toronto police expressed gratitude to the U.S. Marshal Service, the BOLO Program, and Toronto Crime Stoppers for their critical roles in bringing Cunningham to justice. Currently, he remains in U.S. custody, awaiting extradition back to Canada.

Cunningham’s capture marks a significant point in the ongoing fight against gun violence and organized crime, as he becomes the seventh fugitive from the BOLO program’s top 25 list to be arrested since its inception last December.
