As the summer sun fades away, Winkler Arts and Culture is gearing up for an exhilarating fall filled with creativity, connection, and community spirit! From engaging after-school art classes to vibrant newcomer gatherings and striking new exhibits, this season is set to be a whirlwind of artistic excitement!

Act Fast: After-School Art Classes Filling Up!

Get ready, parents! Two popular after-school art classes are already open for registration, and spots are disappearing quickly. Jered Hildebrand, the energetic Director of Winkler Arts and Culture, warns that these classes offer limited seating, making them a hot ticket for budding artists. "Now is the time to sign up! We keep class sizes small—about 10 seats—ensuring every child enjoys a hands-on experience," Hildebrand urges.

Texture Exploration: A Unique Art Experience!

The first class, Texture Exploration, kicks off on September 10 and spans six exciting weeks every Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., catering to ages 9 to 13. This isn’t your typical painting class! Hildebrand explains, "We’ll be mixing various materials into the paint, layering techniques, and using unconventional tools. In art, the only rule is that there are NO rules, so we can experiment together!"

Discover Mixed Media Magic!

Additionally, the Mixed Media class invites kids to unleash their creativity! "This class focuses on combining multiple mediums—painting, clay, and even crafting with unexpected materials to create a truly one-of-a-kind piece!" Hildebrand shares.

Building Community Through Art!

These classes aren't just about skill; they foster rich friendships and community bonds. "While Winkler is known for its sports, there’s definitely a vibrant space for our young artists! Many come back year after year, forming lifelong friendships through art," says Hildebrand. He highlights that numerous kids juggle both sports and artistic pursuits, making this program an incredible mix!

Connect with New Friends: Newcomer Welcome Evenings!

Don’t miss the Monthly Newcomer Welcome Evenings, a fantastic initiative in collaboration with Regional Connections! The next gathering is on September 17th. "It’s a wonderful opportunity for newcomers to meet others, regardless of whether they're fresh to Winkler, Manitoba, or even Canada," Hildebrand emphasizes. Guests often leave with fascinating insights about their new home!

Exciting New Exhibits Await!

The gallery is buzzing with anticipation for fresh exhibits this fall! "The Faces of Winkler exhibit just wrapped up, and next on the agenda is the Peer-to-Peer exhibit from the gallery in Carman, traveling throughout Pembina Valley," says Hildebrand.

While local events steal the spotlight this season, the upcoming Manitoba Showcase from September 18-20 is set to be a highlight. "This is a thrilling chance to bring artists, workshops, and performances to Winkler for the first time! It’s not just fantastic for arts promoters like myself, but also for artists and attendees looking to connect and grow," beams Hildebrand!
