In a harrowing incident in Oshawa, a driver is now facing serious charges after allegedly leaving the scene of a devastating crash that left two young children with severe injuries. The shocking event took place on Wednesday night around 9:10 p.m. near the intersection of Taunton Road and Stevenson Road North.
The Collision Details
According to the Durham Regional Police, the crash involved a Ford Mustang and a Hyundai Elantra in a T-bone collision. In a shocking turn of events, the driver of the Mustang fled the scene on foot, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Injuries and Emergency Response
The fallout from the collision was severe, with four occupants of the Hyundai—including two children, aged 10 and 5—sustaining extensive injuries. Both children were urgently transported to a hospital in Toronto, where they are reported to be in serious condition.
In addition, the 41-year-old male driver of the Hyundai was rescued and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Meanwhile, a 33-year-old female passenger was trapped in the wreckage and required a lengthy extrication process before being hospitalized with serious injuries.
Charges and Investigation
The driver of the Mustang has been identified by police as 29-year-old Aditya Singh from Oshawa. He is now facing multiple charges, including failing to remain at the scene of a collision that caused bodily harm, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and impaired driving leading to bodily harm. Singh has been held for a bail hearing as the investigation unfolds.
