In a jaw-dropping twist in downtown Toronto, police have arrested two individuals linked to a shocking robbery and extortion case, while a third remains at large.
The drama unfolded on June 11, around 4:30 p.m., when officers received alarming reports of an assault in the bustling Entertainment District, near Adelaide Street West and Peter Street.
According to authorities, the victim had reached out to a woman on Snapchat, who went by the names "Nina," "Nina Lopez," and "Sabrina," and subsequently visited her home.
Tragically, there, she was assaulted, robbed, and extorted for cash by two men before managing to escape and alert authorities.
On Monday, police took action, arresting 30-year-old Julia Valiante from Montreal and 20-year-old Saleem Abdulla from Mississauga. They face serious charges including assault with a weapon, violent robbery, extortion, and possession of obscene material for distribution—though these charges are yet to be proven in court.
The duo appeared before a Toronto bail court, but the search continues for the third suspect.
This unidentified male is described as being in his early 20s, with distinct black hair and a goatee, and was last seen sporting a black Nike hooded sweater, black pants, and shoes.
Toronto police suspect there may be additional victims involved in this alarming case and are encouraging anyone with information to step forward and contact them at 416-808-5200 or reach out anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
