Search Efforts Intensify for Lily and Jack Sullivan

The urgent search for two missing children, four-year-old Jack and six-year-old Lily Sullivan, has entered its sixth day in the dense woodlands of Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Their heartbreaking disappearance was reported on May 2 at 10 a.m. from their home in Lansdowne Station, situated about 30 kilometers from New Glasgow.

Every day, around 140 to 160 volunteers have joined the Herculean efforts to locate the children, scouring the area both on foot with search dogs and from the sky with helicopters and drones. The community’s response has been overwhelming, with volunteers flocking in from across the province. Just this Tuesday, teams from New Brunswick lent their expertise to bolster the search.

RCMP’s Focus and Family Concerns

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), there are no current indications of foul play or abduction, as authorities believe the children may have simply wandered off. Cpl. Carlie McCann emphasized that law enforcement is thoroughly investigating every lead to ensure Lily and Jack are safely brought home.

Despite this, the children’s stepfather, Daniel Martell, is urging for the search perimeter to be expanded beyond provincial borders, even suggesting that nearby airports should be checked in case of an abduction.

Martell has expressed concern that only his side of the family is present at the search site after Lily and Jack’s mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, left the county last Saturday. When contacted, Brooks-Murray stated that the RCMP advised her not to engage with the media further, leaving many in the family anxious and yearning for clarity.
