On June 17, the China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO) successfully conducted a crucial pad abort test for its Mengzhou spacecraft, marking a pivotal moment in their lunar exploration mission. The test took place at 12:30 p.m. in Beijing, demonstrating the spacecraft's escape capabilities without any rocket onboard at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

During the test, the Mengzhou's solid rocket escape engines fired for about 20 seconds. After jettisoning its escape tower at altitude, the spacecraft gracefully deployed three parachutes, cushioning its landing in the desert just minutes later.
