In a jaw-dropping incident that unfolded in Vaughan, York Region Police have unveiled gripping footage of a suspect igniting an SUV parked in a residential driveway. The harrowing event transpired just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday near Forest Heights Boulevard and Highway 27.

The fire was first spotted by a vigilant resident who quickly reviewed their home security footage. The video captures a man dressed in dark clothing, stealthily removing a jerrycan from a red bag to saturate the SUV with what appears to be an accelerant. In a dramatic turn, he ignites the vehicle, leading to a small explosion that engulfs the SUV in flames.

A Desperate Escape and an Alarming Connection

As chaos erupted on the driveway, the suspect nonchalantly walked away, leaving the SUV behind in a fiery blaze. However, the mystery deepened when surveillance also caught a 2022 Honda Civic—the suspect's getaway car—parked in the vicinity.

In a chilling twist, police revealed that after fleeing the scene, the suspect fired multiple rounds in the direction of the burning vehicle before speeding off in the Civic. This malevolent act only adds to the urgency of the situation.

Authorities have described the suspect as approximately five-foot-10, clad in a black hooded sweatshirt, black jogging pants, and black running shoes with white soles, topped off with grey gloves. With details emerging, the hunt is intensifying.

The alleged getaway car—believed to be a light blue Honda Civic, bearing Ontario licence plate DFEA247—has entered the spotlight for more than one reason. This very vehicle is also linked to a separate shooting incident in Peel Region later that same night. To make matters worse, police confirmed the Civic was reported stolen from Toronto earlier that day!
