AEW star Buddy Matthews has revealed some concerning news regarding his recovery from an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined since February.

During a candid Instagram Live session, Matthews disclosed, "The ankle is not recovering as well as I thought it would be. There’s no mobility to it. If I can’t move properly, that’s a major issue for me." This true fighter has been out of action since injuring himself at the AEW Grand Slam in Australia, where he faced off against the legendary Kazuchika Okada.

Expressing his frustrations, Matthews warned, "Once it hits three months without healing, it becomes chronic." Initially, he had hoped to be back in action by April, but those plans have been derailed.

In a previous discussion on the podcast Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Matthews detailed how the injury occurred. "I rolled it pretty bad. An X-ray and MRI showed no breaks, but I did suffer a partial ligament tear and cartilage damage. I’ve been able to walk but haven’t run or jumped. Just starting to implement cardio, but it stiffens up. It's tough." He emphasized how close he came to a more severe injury, stating, "The doctors told me it was incredible that I didn’t break any bones, but I had to wrestle for 15 minutes after the injury."

Fans eagerly await his return, but for now, Matthews faces a challenging recovery road.
