A courageous woman from Nottinghamshire, Lauren Moger, is rallying the community to support a vital fundraising event for cancer research, even though she is unable to participate herself due to ongoing treatment.

At just 31, Lauren has bravely faced the challenges of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and a double mastectomy after her breast cancer diagnosis last summer. Despite these hurdles, her spirit remains unbroken as she spreads awareness and encourages participation in the Shine Night Walk—an illuminating charity event held in 16 cities across the UK, including Nottingham.

A Family's Legacy and a Personal Fight

With a profound family history of cancer, Lauren's journey took a turn when she discovered a lump and underwent testing, which revealed she carries the BRCA1 gene. This genetic marker is associated with a heightened risk of various cancers, adding to the urgency and weight of her fight.

Currently awaiting breast implants, Lauren expresses hope for a return to her beloved job. Her passion for life is clear as she shares, "I've already come to terms with the possibility of having cancer—my grandmothers and aunt faced similar battles. The treatment has been tough, but it’s made me even more determined to reclaim my vibrant, outgoing self."
