Petroleum expert Dan McTeague has revealed to Global News that costs will surge by 9 cents per litre, pushing the price to a staggering 191.9 cents per litre. In fact, some areas have already seen a jaw-dropping increase of 23 cents in just one week!

But hold on – there is a silver lining on the horizon! McTeague attributes this price hike to supply issues stemming from essential maintenance on the BP Olympic pipeline in Washington State.

"While this certainly brings a shocking financial blow, it’s not all doom and gloom," McTeague explained. "Once this maintenance wraps up, which is expected within a week, we should see prices tumble back towards the 170 range."

Even more promising, he anticipates that by the third week of September, consumers could see prices drop by as much as 30 cents a litre. So while the immediate future looks tight, relief may not be far off!
