In a fiery commentary, Belal Muhammad has pointed the finger at Dricus du Plessis for the snooze-fest that was UFC 319. The event, headlined by du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev, ended up being a one-sided bout that failed to ignite excitement.

During Saturday's main event, du Plessis battled Chimaev for the coveted middleweight title, a clash marked by total domination. Although he survived until the final bell, the fight was anything but competitive, with UFC CEO Dana White scoring it a staggering 50-41 in favor of Chimaev. While Chimaev has faced criticism for not finishing his opponent, Muhammad insists the blame falls squarely on du Plessis.

"I called it from the start," Muhammad declared on his YouTube channel. "I knew it would be an easy win for Khamzat, and it turned out just as I predicted. Dana scored it with four 10-8 rounds – I agree. Some may complain, but that was a dominating performance."

Muhammad continued, highlighting how easily Chimaev controlled the fight. "For Khamzat, it was a breeze to take him down and keep him there. People are criticizing him, but it was up to DDP to make a move. He needed to try to escape, yet it seemed like he was content just to avoid submission."

Du Plessis faced the music post-match, acknowledging Chimaev's superiority and admitting he lost the grappling exchanges. Muhammad does not mince words when examining du Plessis’s career, suggesting that fortune played a part in his prior victories. "What was the game plan going in? Did they underestimate Khamzat's wrestling? His previous opponents were all strikers, allowing him to dodge grappling risks. Now we see the flaws in his game. He needs to improve to stay competitive," he said.

On the contrary, Chimaev remains a top contender, boasting an impressive undefeated record and minimal damage taken in his previous fights. Muhammad reminds fans not to hastily label Chimaev’s performance as boring, citing that just a year ago, he was awarded Submission of the Year after a dominant showcase against Robert Whittaker.

"Before everyone starts bashing him for being dull, have they forgotten that Chimaev has recently delivered nothing but finishes? He just shattered Whittaker's bottom teeth! His next fight will be a reminder of how thrilling he can be, especially with more grapplers on the horizon," Muhammad concluded.

As the MMA world buzzes over the aftermath of UFC 319, fans are left wondering: can du Plessis bounce back and refine his grappling skills? One thing is certain—Chimaev is poised to return with a vengeance.
