While monitoring her cameras, she discovered a captivating trend: multiple bears, from different families and on different days, were all drawn to the exact same tree!

What’s So Special About This Tree?

Pongrac took to Facebook with her discovery, humorously dubbing it the "very 'beary' best bear rub tree ever." It seemed these furry giants couldn't resist their mutual attraction to this remarkable tree, and Pongrac couldn't help but wonder what made it so special. "When you look at its unique shape—having both a horizontal part for a perfect back scratch and a vertical one for additional rubbing—it’s easy to see why they’d keep returning to it," she shared with The Dodo.

The Science Behind Bear Behavior

Interestingly, bear behavior is not as random as it might seem. Research indicates that bears show a clear preference for specific types of trees. Typically, they gravitate towards larger, branch-less trunks and are particularly fond of conifer trees, like the western red cedar that was featured in Pongrac's footage. This tree’s smooth, bare area provides the perfect canvas for a satisfying scratch!
