FC Barcelona is tantalizingly close to clinching the coveted La Liga title following a heart-racing victory over their historic rivals, Real Madrid, this past weekend.

With a commanding seven-point lead over Madrid and just three games left in the season, the Catalans are in a prime position to seize the trophy. Yet, there remains a flicker of hope for Real Madrid, as they still hold a mathematical chance of snatching the title.

For that to happen, however, Madrid must win all their remaining matches while Barcelona would need to falter significantly. Currently, Barcelona sits at 82 points, while Madrid trails at 75. The tiebreaker scenario heavily favors Barcelona, as they triumphed in both encounters against Madrid this season.

Should Madrid land two wins and a draw, they would level at 82 points—but even in that case, Barcelona would still be crowned champions.

To truly cash in on their title hopes, Madrid must aim for an impressive 84 points, which would require winning every remaining game. Conversely, Barcelona only needs a meager two points from their last three matches to ensure they also reach 84, securing the title.

The earliest Barcelona could seal the deal is as soon as tomorrow! If Real Madrid fails to secure a win—whether through a draw or defeat against RCD Mallorca—Barcelona will automatically be declared champions.

However, even if Madrid wins, Barcelona can still clinch the title by outplaying local rivals RCD Espanyol this Thursday. In fact, any win in their remaining three matches guarantees Barcelona the title, regardless of Madrid’s performance.

One last twist could see Barcelona win the league without securing a single victory, should they draw at least two matches while Madrid wins all theirs.

Yet, to avoid unnecessary nail-biting scenarios, Barcelona will likely focus on winning their next game and finally lifting the trophy.
