A Historic Auction Beckons!
Get ready, car enthusiasts and F1 fans! A stunning piece of motorsport history is set to cross the auction block: a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.3-16, famously owned by the late, great Ayrton Senna. RM Sotheby’s is offering this beauty with an estimated auction price between £220,000 and £250,000.
Senna's Passion for the 190 E!
This eye-catching vehicle isn’t just any car; it’s a symbol of Senna’s racing legacy. Inspired by his 1984 Race of Champions victory at the iconic Nürburgring, Senna fell in love with the 190 E after driving a modified version of it, featuring the same sleek Smoke Silver Metallic paint.
An Autographed Piece of History!
But it gets even better! Open the hood, and you’ll find the signature of another F1 legend, three-time champion Niki Lauda. He signed the engine bay during the 2016 Australian Grand Prix while working with the Mercedes team, making this car a two-champion artifact!
Senna’s Time with the 190 E!
According to the RM Sotheby’s listing, Senna collected this treasure directly from the Mercedes-Benz factory, accompanied by his friend Maurício Gugelmin. Over the two years he owned it, he logged 24,862 miles, evidenced by the last service invoice prior to its sale.
From Senna to New Homes!
In 1987, Senna sold the 190 E, anticipating his move to Monaco after signing with McLaren. The car later found its way to Robin Clark in 1996, a friend of Senna’s manager, Julian Jakobi.
A Legacy Cut Short!
This extraordinary vehicle hails from the same year Senna began his F1 career, making his debut at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Despite starting in 17th position, a failed turbocharger ended his race prematurely. Yet, his record is unparalleled: three world championships, 41 grand prix wins, 80 podium finishes, and 65 pole positions before his tragic passing in 1994.
Don't Miss Out!
This isn’t just a classic car; it’s a piece of racing history tied to one of the greatest drivers of all time. Whether you’re a collector, an F1 fan, or simply someone who appreciates automotive excellence, this auction is unmissable!
